  1. light verb used to create new verbs out of nouns or noun phrases.

du-<verb>

  1. used to create new serial verb clauses out of other verbs.

Examples

  • milowda ta du im fo maliwala milowda = “we did it for our children”
  • showxa “to say, to tell” → du-showxa “to chat, make small talk”
  • tung “sound of gunshot” → du tung “to shoot”
  • towsh bik “big teeth” (a smile) → du towsh bik “to smile”
